Community Engagement & Service

Want to help bring our neighborhood closer together and support good causes? That’s exactly what the Engagement & Service Committee does. Led by a Chair or Co-Chairs (picked by our NNA President), this committee includes at least two board members—and can also welcome the President. We check in every year to confirm who’s still interested, and you can stay involved for as long as you’re on the board (or even longer, if the Chair says it’s cool!).

We typically meet a couple of times a year (with at least 24 hours’ heads-up) to plan community-building events and service projects. We also keep in touch with local businesses and organizations—like schools and service centers—to figure out how we can best work together. Whenever we come up with ideas that need funding or a policy decision, we bring them to the full board for approval.

In short, we…

  • Listen to what members need and want
  • Organize social gatherings and service initiatives
  • Maintain friendly partnerships with neighborhood businesses and charities
  • Plan our big annual membership meeting every November

If you’re a board member, joining this committee counts as your required committee service. But anyone who’s enthusiastic about making a positive impact is welcome. We look forward to working with you to make our neighborhood a happier, more connected place!

Media & Communications

Think of us as the NNA’s voice! We’re in charge of keeping our neighborhood informed—online, on social media, and everywhere else. Led by a Chair or Co-Chairs chosen by the President, this committee usually has at least two board members (and sometimes the President). Members meet at least twice a year and help with NNA’s website, social media channels, and newsletters. If we have major updates or events, we also take the lead on press releases.

Here’s what we do:

  • Develop and refine our online presence (website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Keep our website and social media buzzing with fresh, dynamic content
  • Build a consistent look, feel, and message for all things NNA
  • Increase awareness of local happenings and support our fundraising efforts

If you’re a board member, being on this committee counts as your required committee service. The door’s always open if you love connecting people and sharing what’s going on in our neighborhood!

Zoning, Code Enforcement, and Safety

We’re here to help keep our neighborhood safe, orderly, and in compliance with local rules. Led by a Chair or Co-Chairs appointed by the President, this committee typically has at least two board members—and possibly the President. We meet at least twice a year to handle zoning proposals, code enforcement concerns, and safety issues, then bring our ideas to the full board.

We work on things like:

  • Reviewing proposed zoning changes
  • Sharing updates and concerns about code and safety with all neighbors
  • Working closely with city offices (Planning Commission, Code Enforcement, Police)
  • Helping neighbors follow city ordinances
  • Supporting Neighborhood Watch programs where needed

If you’re a board member, this group counts as your required service. It’s perfect for anyone who cares about keeping our neighborhood safe and looking its best!

Governance & Parliamentarian

We’re all about making sure our board stays active, representative, and strong. This committee—led by a Chair or Co-Chairs chosen by the President—checks in at least twice a year to handle anything related to memberships, nominations for open board seats, and important governance practices. Basically, we keep our leadership organized and ensure the board runs smoothly!

Here’s what we focus on:

  • Recruiting and welcoming new members
  • Coordinating board nominations when seats open up
  • Reviewing and updating governance practices to keep us on track

If you’re already a board member, serving on this committee covers your committee service requirement. But we also welcome anyone interested in helping shape our neighborhood’s leadership and direction!

Development, Membership & Nominating

We focus on the neighborhood’s fundraising vision and strategies. Led by a Chair or Co-Chairs (appointed by the President), this committee meets at least twice a year to map out short- and long-term funding needs, set annual fundraising goals, and keep the board updated on our progress. We also help organize the Home & Garden Tour (every other year) and coordinate membership fee goals. While we don’t directly handle the money-raising ourselves, we make sure we have the right plans in place to fund all our great neighborhood projects!

Here’s what we do:

  • Lay out financial goals that support our mission
  • Develop an annual plan to guide our fundraising efforts
  • Work with the board to plan the Home & Garden Tour
  • Define membership fee targets and track results

Board members can fulfill their committee service requirement by joining this group—but anyone excited about helping secure the resources our neighborhood needs is welcome!
